Oyam Thanks Development Partners

Hon. Milly Molly Among, Vice Chairperson of Oyam District Local Government made these remarks during an Oyam District Development Partners’ Workshop that was held on Monday, 19th September 2016 in Oyam. She was representing the Oyam DLG Chairman, Hon. Nelson Adea Akar.

“I want to thank CPAR Uganda Ltd. They have been with us for a long time. And am happy to hear that they are coming back, because what they did in the past I think they are going to continue from where they left off and do better than what they did before. So, CPAR Uganda Ltd you are welcome in Oyam.”

Let me take this opportunity to sincerely thank the Almighty God for having brought all of us to Oyam District. Oyam has been one of the most affected districts due to insecurity but at the moment we are in peace.

We are now only having insecurity due to bad roads. We have been longing for rains. It has started raining and the roads have become bad. That is why am late. I want to apologise for that.

I bring apologies from our dear Chairman LCV he was not able to be here with us for he has gone to Karuma to receive the Bishop who will be touring in Oyam and Lango sub-region. As his vice, he has delegated me to represent him. Always, a strong home has a strong woman behind it.

I want to thank the DHO (District Health Officer) for the good work she is doing in Oyam District. She is a lady, but when you see what she is doing and when you monitor what she is doing in Oyam District we have really improved a lot, especially on the side of health. You cannot believe she is a woman who is working doing all that. I thank her for that. She is short but very strong in her activities.

I want to thank all the development partners who have come to join hands with us. You have come to Oyam because you love the district and you love the people who are staying in the district. In fact, we have been suffering but with your coming we are going to regain.

We in Oyam are good loving people. We want partners. We want to welcome them because we have been suffering. What we want in Oyam is transparency and accountability. And also we want team spirit. We have been working with team spirit that is why Oyam is where it is at this moment.

I am a Senior Politician. I have been in the council for five times without breaking. At the moment I am the vice Chairperson and the Secretary for Production and Marketing and Natural Resources. I welcome you to stay with us and work with us. We shall join hands so that we can work together for the benefit of our people.

I want to thank you the development partners for what you are doing. In Oyam District we have been living like orphans. As old as I am, I have been advising my people that if anybody comes to give you support accept it and receive it with your two hands. The little you are given be thankful and be contented with it.

I want to thank CPAR Uganda Ltd. They have been with us for a long time. And am happy to hear that they are coming back, because what they did in the past I think they are going to continue from where they left off and do better than what they did before. So, CPAR Uganda Ltd you are welcome in Oyam.

I want to thank all the participants. Let us do team spirit work. We join hands and work together for the good and development of Oyam District, mostly our community down there who have been suffering under insurgency for many years.

During insecurity time our people were not going to school and our mothers were delivering under trees. Even our girls were being raped and there was a lot of dropout from school. But with your help and many other things that you have been doing in Oyam District there is a lot of improvement.

Because I am a person who has stayed in politics for many years, I know how I behave with the community. I move round and find that there is a lot of improvement due to your effort as development partners. Thank you for coming.

Do you know why I cannot speak well? I have very few teeth. And so, with these few words I declare this workshop closed.
